INTRODUCTION
๐ Qualitative Research Data Collection
Qualitative data collection is the process of obtaining rich, detailed, and meaningful information about people’s experiences, perceptions, and behaviors within real-life contexts. The purpose is not to count or measure, but to understand meanings and interpretations of a phenomenon from the participants’ perspectives.
Common qualitative data collection methods include:

Interviews – To explore personal views, emotions, and lived experiences.

Observations – To directly witness actions, interactions, and contexts.

Document Analysis – To review written or digital materials such as reports, letters, blogs, and social media posts.

Focus Group Discussions – To gather diverse opinions through group interactions.
In qualitative research, the researcher is the main instrument of data collection. The researcher must build trust and rapport with participants, adapt to the research setting, and practice reflective listening and questioning.
Data are typically textual and descriptive—such as words, narratives, or documents—and are analysed thematically to uncover patterns and meanings that explain the studied phenomenon.
